It's interesting timing that I came across this post today. I have just put some flags up next to the Hawthorne I was telling you about as I plan to do something for Samhain. I feel a little silly as I now understand why you mentioned that tree in particular. So I did a little research and had a closer look at the tree. I have now cleared the area of gorse to reveal 3 Hawthorne trees! I wonder if I will be brave enough to fall asleep under her on Samhain?!
Oh, Kirsty!! I love this SO MUCH! I was so in love with Gorse my first visit to Scotland and drove my traveling companion nuts talking about it. The scent!! And you have THREE Hawthorn trees! Holy moly. I spent time in the Nemeton yesterday during the eclipse. I don't think I'm brave enough to sleep there on Samhain (or any other time) because, remember, we have bears and coyote and bobcats etc. etc. etc.! But, by all means, you should sleep there, Kirsty, and LMK how it goes! If I don't hear back from you, I'll imagine you're with the fairies and will return at some point. :) xo
Gorse is a surprising plant for me. I also love the tropical scent but it is everywhere! So occasionally I have to clear a little away or we would be blanketed by the stuff. It is thanks to you that I'm aware of the 3 Hawthorn trees. If I do get company under the trees it likely to be deer or squirrels, if im lucky an owl or unlucky a pinemartain!
I love this! I have always been drawn to these circular areas, outlined by trees in the woods. I had no idea there was a name for them. Iβm exploring my Celtic (Scottish, Irish, English roots) and my Samii- far north ancestry. Iβve taken Asiaβs class and followed her as well. So many crossovers! I wish I was closer and could sit and journey to the best of our drums in the grove.
I have Celtic blood in my veins and I am grateful I was synchronistically guided to this post. I am very much looking forward to reading "Yearning for the Wind: Celtic Reflections on Nature and the Soul". Thank you for the beautiful gift of this post.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Moran taing, Gavin, as they say in Scots Gaelic. ) And thank you for the Irish blessing. It made me teary, as hearing it always does.
Another book that I love is "The Mist-Filled Path" by Frank MacEowen. And, of course, I'm certain you must know "Anam Cara" by John O'Donohue. One of my absolute favorites.
I went and sat in the nemeton this afternoon. When I step into the clearing something magical happens. I was there the other day when we had frigid cold temps and wind but I couldn't feel a thing. It was as if I'd stepped into another dimension, which I probably had. :)
Thanks for reading and leaving such a beautiful comment. π
Just in time π€ and just SO lovely. How cozy would it be to share a tea together in your nemeton... UGH!! Winter has always been my favorite. Merry Christmas and Happy Winter Solstice, Barbara. Xoxo
Jamie, that would be a dream come true! Or a hot chocolate. I love Winter too and am already mourning the light returning, lol. I know you're one of the few who understands that! Love you, Soul Sister! xoxo B
I love your nemeton, I want one too, and will hopefully start building it soon.
I have Irish and Scot ancestry and I crave a visit... maybe one day. If I don't get there in this life, then I'll do a flyover as I'm outta here... ;)
This little MAGICAL spot is wonderful!!! I'd love to see it in real life someday, when I visit you... Oh, that would be so great. ^_^ Something to look forward to... for our birthdays? xo xo xo
Moran tang!! :) My heart literally opens and then aches when I think about Scotland or look at my photos. I may never step foot onto a plane again after the past three years but if I do it will be to return to Scotland and Ireland. Thanks for reading! It is pure Magic. Take pics when you find your special nemeton! xo B
Oh, I've been aching to go to Scotland (and Ireland, too) for soooo long. Maybe we can go together and take a SHIP!!!!!!! ^_^ Wouldn't that be amazing!
I should create my own nemeton, and you've inspired me. But right now it's toooo fricken COLD.
;)
Oh, I have to tell you... A few years ago, there was some social fracas going on, I can't remember exactly what it was, but someone called someone else a "moran," as in, stupid. LOLOL I remember laughing so hard with a co-worker, whose last name was... MORAN. ^_^
I love it! Itβs a very magical, and a blessed by love, outdoor space! That precious bear is so happy in his beautiful new home...no hibernating for him! God bless!βοΈπ»π²π

That would be lovely to drum with you, Josie! Isn't Asia lovely? Have you read these books? You might enjoy them.

Best of Merry... xo
