What beautiful photography! And I love what you shared about that old white pine and her adopted family of other tree species. I think you are doing what Lyanda would describe as "return(ing) to be claimed" in Rooted. I just finished re-reading it for the second time through and I was really moved by the way she explores recognizing non-human (plant, animal and fungal) ways of being and forms of intelligence, as well as her elaborations on the act of befriending trees. I think you have a great many friends in the beautiful forest by your place and I sense that the ancient photosynthetic beings adore you and appreciate your presence in their lives greatly.
I especially liked your pictures of the elemental friendly mossy/lichen covered areas.
I am longing to get some time with nature. Maybe tomorrow.
I have a busy week ahead preparing for my daddy's memorial service and being around family, which some of them are undesirable. I will think of your walk in the woods.
Mmmm! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your photography, not to mention your wonderful way of bringing Nature, my Ultimate Love, into sharp focus through words as well.
Oh, my dear, thank you for this, it is sooooo exactly what I need, too, and to find it online is a real treat.
Yes, there are elementals!
And my favorite is just about anything, just outdoors, and outrageously, almost anything that's part of Gaia. YAY!
Nothing takes us away from ourselves as a dive into our true nature. Being in nature, creating art, tending animals, garden and helping others. All pathways to feeling grateful and blessed. Trees are also at the top of my list, and perhaps my son feels that too. When he was young he once told me...."if I ever get a tattoo it will be of a tree." Sweet. Thank you Barbara, always so well lived, said and shared.
I love this so much! For me, when life feels too much the antidote is always nature. Anywhere really, but I’m most at home in a mossy mixed forest with pines and sycamores. It’s always the trees for me. There was a special little beach on Swan’s Island, Maine. A little hike through a mossy wood dumped you straight out onto a fine sand beach, also the name of the place. Flanked by granite slabs, and rarely visited, it was the perfect place to find sand dollars and explore the tide pools. That place was so special!

Incase you missed it, I wrote an in depth article a while back that explores the magical realms of our elders in the Queendoms of Moss and Lichen https://gavinmounsey.substack.com/p/tiny-beings-offering-immense-wisdom
Sending much love to you and your rooted friends! <3

Great photos, Barbara. I may steal one or two to paint this winter! I miss you and Robin! I long to be gathered with you ladies again!

Thank you for the little " get away". I started work back after 6 weeks. Still have major healing to do. This was just what I needed. Xoxoxo
