Thank you, dear Kathleen! I'm still a little embarrassed not only at this "incident" but also because I felt compelled to share it... Go figure. At any rate I'm glad that it's no. longer front and center on my home page. :)
Thank you for reading, and it's been such a pleasure interacting with you here this year. Happy Fake Gregorian New Year! :) XOXO
Happy belated year round the sun, beautiful soul! Love being distracted from the horror of the world with your synchronicity stories! Glad you were born and Merry belated Christmas too! May January bring sage hibernation and lots of yummy treats.
Lovely post! I share both your reasons for finding the smell of lillies hard to take, and your ambivalence towards the truth-telling parts of yourself. (I'm a Taurus though, so I'd have composted the lillies out of practicality, lol!)
Thank you for reading and commenting! My moon and rising signs are both in Taurus, so that's a weirdo combination with my Sag sun! I'm also a mad composter, but they will have a more regal ending in the Nemeton than the compost pile where all the wild animals feast. :)
That just wouldn't occur to me which is one reason I enjoy your writing so much! (Maybe it's having 5 planets in Taurus?) It reminds me that there can be something special and beautiful as well as practical - that it's a choice we make.
Barbara, this is a wonderful essay. You sure had a series of synchronicities. I was reading your piece right after having had several of my own which had also brought tears to my eyes.
I love your title, "The Frozen Flowers Incident". You're becoming a mystery writer on top of being an herbal expert, photographer, artist, etc. etc. Your last mystery post was the one about the "Missing Paintings Incident". What will you come up with next?? I'm sure you'll surprise us. Have a lovely Christmas.
Oh, dear Rocket...thank you for your kind words! This post embarrasses me a bit, but it's out there now. Lol, it was originally titled The Frozen Flowers but I added "Incident" at the end. :)
Sending love to you for whatever synchronicities of your own brought tears to your eyes. This time of year does that, doesn't it?
You are one of only a handful of people I've ever come across who share my birthday... Happy (belated, tho I did give you an early one, I think?!) Birthday! We share many things... ^_^
As for the reason for the lilies, or the question you had about the "event," I'm thinking that you said it yourself... "the UNEXPECTED BEAUTY" of the frozen lilies..."
Perhaps that could be translated as "Wait for it!" lol
I find that I am quick to make decisions about Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down... And of late I've been trying to teach myself to question my own Jumping to Confusions...
Wait for it! There's an inflection in my mind of this phrase, like a musical phrase,.. two notes of the same: Wait for... and then up about 5 steps... IT! I think I got this from Monty Python or something, LOL. I say it to myself quite often.
Because we both know that underneath the Immediate is the deeper, murkier Possible.
xo xo xo
Happy Birthday, dear twinnish woman! I am slowly working my way back to the same kind of solitude we both crave... I'm safe and warm, and itching to find MY SPOT, as you have done.
Happy Belated Birthday, Jaan! Thank you for your kind and reflective words on this strange post that is making me cringe a bit. I hope 2025 brings you a safe and warm place to call home. You will certainly be bubbling with gratitude when it happens! XOXO
Thank you for kind thoughts and for your Always-Hearty posts. You're a source of real pleasure for me, even when you're feeling cringy, lol. We have some commonality... besides the honesty, that's a Force we cannot deny, right?!! --gets me into trouble often enough!-- but also that willingness to DIVE into the dark waters...
Barbara thank you for your sage truth unfolding and the story of gift giving. There is nothing more important happening right now in the world than me sitting here in warm summery afternoon light reading this .
Thank you, Sandra, for taking the time to read and leave a comment. I truly appreciate it. I almost deleted this post. Not the most flattering. Sag Season got the best (or worst!) of me. I'm still ruminating on this one! XOXO
Ah, thank you. While we can imagine the feelings and experiences we hope a gift will conjure, the personal response is just that. Giving one another the grace to feel is probably greater than the gift itself. Honored always to hold space. 💖
Love you and there’s so much space here in this relationship for all the things. I’m glad we both thought to toss them out to the woods, where the alchemy and slow decomposition of nature (and winter) could turn them to something that invoked a sense of wonder and reflection.
Somehow I missed this one! Glad I found my way to it and so glad you decided to share it.
I always feel refreshed by these glimpses into your life, Barbara. 🌻(Things feel too weird, read something from Barbara and all is well again. :-))
Happy birthday! Grateful you were born. XOX

Same to you, dear Tonika! Getting to know you (albeit virtually!) has been such a beautiful Joy this year. You are such a Light. XOXO
I laughed so hard!!!!! I love all of this so much. Happy birthday to my Beautiful dearest friend. I love and adore you 💕💕💕🌲🌲🌲
LOL, thanks for finding the humor in it, Jamie! Love you, dear friend. Hope you're enjoying the long nights! XOXO

Wow to 5 planets in Taurus! Earth personified! And ruled by Venus...so much love of beauty in that sign.

It's not cringe-worthy to ME, my dear pal.

Biggo Hugs for you!!! And anytime. xo xo
Sag 4 Ever!! :) ♐♐
YAY!!!!!!! lol *Speeds around the room at 85 mph, scaring the cat and wreaking havoc… *

While I wish it had been a different experience, I’m honored to witness the process of the flowers. Love you!
You enabled a New kind of thinking about those lilies... ^_^
Look how beautiful they are as frozen things! And no longer any trouble for her, as it were...
Look how you brought a New Experience and a deepening of heart for your/our friend Barbara. ^_^
You're a good friend. xo

You are a masterful space holder, dear Amanda. 🙏🏻💕
She's lovely. 💖
We're living in Difficult Times, and spreading Good Will is so important, always, but I believe Right Now it's crucial...
Peace and Love, my dear pals.

🥰
I love you so much, my friend! I'm still conflicted about this, but one thing I know for sure is how grateful I am for your deep friendship.XOXO

You were/are part of the Magic, that’s for sure. 🔮💕
