I had saved this post and only now gotten back to it. Perfect as Iβm about to go forest breathing. Itβs practically spring in Chicago. Even lit my fire pit the day before yesterday and my hair still smells like it. Iβm going to ask my trees to whisper to your trees today. Hope the wind carries their song.
And, I'll do the same, Tonika! It's 17 deg and sunny here. I have learned to dress warmly and love the low crisp temps. Ugh...the smoky hair thing. It's real. :) π₯ Enjoy the π²π²π² and everything else around them. π
Ahhhhhh. Lovely and sweet, as always. I love your trees! They are different from mine, but I love ALL trees, and I suspect you do, too. Pray for the one in my front yard, that was chopped so horribly a couple of months ago, so that my landlord wouldn't have to trim it again for "a couple of years." It's like a tree that was stricken with cancer and given radiation therapy... It's being dosed with radiation, too, of course, like everything/everyone else. I cried when I saw what was done. All the wee birdies left. I will now howl for the tree... wooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooo woooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooo WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Now, again thank you, Dear One! xo xo
PS My totem animal is the Owl, totem plant, Mistletoe. ^_^ I know you're December, too, aren't you close to my date, or ON it? I'm the 18th. Tell me, I'll give you more info... (I have a couple of books about the Native American Medicine Wheel... really interesting! But anyway, there's also the Grizzly Bear as a totem animal, too... and the Hawk. ^_^ )
Oh man, I know that feeling when our tree friends get butchered by humans. π’ my birthday is the 17th so we are fellow Sags. βοΈ Thx for reading, Jaan! π¦ π²π
That photo of the one last beech leaf holding on... it speaks to me in ways I'll have to sit with to understand. Thank you for this walk in the woods, Barbara. xox
What a delight!! Thank you, Barbara for highlighting these trees, and for doing it with such an open heart and an eye of love for them and the Natural world.

Oh my goodness, this is so lovely! It seems the message of the beech and hemlock trees is so perfect for now as the weβre closer and closer to spring and the changing of seasons. The beech and hemlock are two of my favorite trees and I learned so much from your words. I love all the different angles and views of your photos of these two special trees. I love how the beech leaves hold their color even under the snow. I always wonder how on earth the tenacious beech can hold onto leaves despite wind, snow, ice, and rain all winter long.
Thank you so for sharing my words here, too. So much love for you! π«π³
