I so want to find somewhere to study... I want to know everything about all this, and not just herbs but food, also (I'm big on cooking). I've been thinking lately of disappearing into the mountains... There's plenty of that around here (Western WA).
Just realized, after a week of this onslaught of what I believe to be EMF poisoning-- I have echinacea, just sitting there, looking all cute... So I'm taking some today and we'll see how that goes. I still feel as though I have a bad cold, but today something has shifted, so hopefully I'm getting better-- still kickin' and (at least inwardly) rowdy!
Thanks for reading! The best medicine of all is to turn off our devices and go outside! Disappearing into the mountains would be optimal. :) Echinacea is usually more effective at the onset but you never know. I always keep it on hand. My body seems to react really well to it. Great for oral health, too. xo
If you have or can direct me to more information about using herbs without ingesting them, that would be great! I have been moving in this direction for awhile now. I use a lot of essential oils and healing stones and want to go further.
One of the books in the photograph which I mentioned towards the end of the post is "Plant Spirit Medicine" by Eliot Cowan. "We sat with the plants. Touched them. Drew them. Listened to them. Talked to them. Smelled them. Tasted them. And then we went and journeyed to the Lower World to meet up with the spirit of the plant we were with." Start there. That being said, make sure the plant is edible and not poisonous before you taste it! :) xo
What the herbalists call chaparral grows wild all over the place about 50 miles from here. We call it creosote bush. Smells heavenly after a summer rain.
You have inspired me to take the few books I have about herbs off my bookshelf and actually read them! I'm not good at reading from cover to cover..... I just took to the pages that interest me so I never knew comfrey was controversial. Maybe explains why I couldn't find the seeds or plants in the shops last year! I must expand my herb garden this year! x
I do the same, Kirsty! So, I'm glad I could inspire you! :) I like to focus on what is growing around me which, having moved to the country, is a lot! xo
Ah good point! My mission this year is to identify the few plants growing locally I don't already know. I'm living back where I grew up so I'm fairly familiar with most. My fav book is The RHS encyclopedia of herbs and their uses but it is a bit heafty to take out and about! Maybe need to find something pocket sized. x
A really good phone app for plant identification is Picture This. I always keep my phone off when I'm out in Nature but I do like having that app. It's really accurate.
I no longer have a mobile phone. I use a tablet in the house so I could use it in the garden but not so good when out and about! I love not having a smart phone so I will find another way but thanks for the tip x
I'm lucky that I never depended on it. I'm also very thrawn! Did not wish to be tracked and traced!! Took my family a little while not to worry about me.
I have a couple bookcases filled with references to healing- all kinds. And do have moved them from place to place for 20 years. This kind of information is priceless. Plus I have my small “herbal container pharmacy” growing outside my back door: comfrey for sprains and strains, Tulsi to keep me balanced, Calendula to heal skin, Yarrow, Chamomile for sleep and tummy issues, Lemon Balm as antiviral, Mint, Rosemary, Dandelion and a couple others. 🙂
That it the perfect herbal container pharmacy, Josie! I have the same although most of them are in the ground. My Tulsi plant did not fare so well but she is inside now (along with Rosemary) and they are both doing rather well inside. Just rubbing their leaves and inhaling them is healing, don't you think? xo
You are definitely speaking my language, Barbara! I've used homeopathy for myself, and my pets, I've had acupuncture, and dabbled in Chinese medicine, took tai chi, herbs, you name it, I've probably tried it. Unfortunately, I have a condition that obligates me to use big pharma. I tried acupuncture, but while I truly enjoyed the sessions, my condition didn't change. I was extremely reluctant to take the meds, but until I find an alternative, I'm stuck. I agree with Soul Liberation regarding going after the alternatives. Thank you for your timely post. I do think we need to be proactive. Now!!
Glad to hear it, CJ! And thanks for reading. Healing is complex and simple at the same time. Don't be hard on yourself for using meds - just stay open which it sounds like you are! Your pets are lucky to have you for a mom. :)
This is a very interesting text. It's very true that the authorities go after alternative methods in order to destroy them. I have personally experienced that too. I have a certain view about what causes disease (and a lot of other things), namely the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is a program that is literally present around a person, and it is responsible for personality, the course of life, health or disease, and ability. I know about the presence of the subconscious around a person, because I can perceive it (psychic abilities), and other people can acquire the ability to perceive it too. https://soulliberation.substack.com/.
Yes, lots to ponder, for sure. I studied energy healing for many years. This article is very simple in terms of healing, that's for sure. There's soooo much more to it. I wanted to keep it simple because so many people are entrenched in western medicine and have no idea how/where to start. I will check out the link. Thx! :)
That is awesome, J.R.! The fact that you are open to information is what's important. I was really slow to learning all of this myself but then the Sagittarian in me couldn't stop. We're kind of obsessed with learning. :) Thanks for reading! xo
I like this post, too...

Doh! I like MY comment, first-- Obviously not entirely "with it" right now...
Taking C and D3, and I like the idea of no supplements, but I seem to have problems without them, so... Anyway, cheers, so enjoying your posts.
We're all different! And, thank goodness for that! LOL, I've done that before and I wasn't sick. :) xo

FYI, this post and the Kapha post I'm saving for tomorrow.
I WANT ALL THOSE BOOKS!!!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing. I know very little about that plant. Will have to see if it grows here. 🌿

Even better! I'm working on ditching it, too. There are many local guidebooks out there...
I'm lucky that I never depended on it. I'm also very thrawn! Did not wish to be tracked and traced!! Took my family a little while not to worry about me.
Kudos to you! I kicked the habit a few years ago, and I don't miss it AT ALL. Of course, I'm not a teenaged gamer, either, but... ^_^

Yes, I greet the sun every morning with my plants .
