Sharing "Do You Remember?"
And hoping we never forget
Dear readers,
I hope you all had a good day yesterday, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. I wanted to write something special to you, but I think Iāll save it for another time.
I had a quiet solitary day. It was the third day of no power (I have a generator and a wood stove, so donāt feel too sorry for me!) and no internet. Even my old-fashioned landline was out.
All this because of a massive geoengineered storm that brought snow, then torrential rain and 70 mph winds, then a rise in temperature to 50F, and then a plunge within hours to 12F. Ice, frigid cold. My wee house was shaking, but the trees held their ground. Literally.
I got out the old DVD case and popped in āLove Actually.ā Donāt judge me!
My favorite part of that movie has always been the beginning and the end at Heathrow Airport, where holiday travelers are reuniting with family and friends.
Lots and lots of HUGGING.
I thought about 2020. How could I not? I never stopped hugging. But plenty of people I normally hugged pulled away from me that year. Fear in their eyes from their masked faces. I could not fathom it.
And, so, when I checked my email this morning, of course, I saw this collaboration between
and , two Substack newsletters, which I love:I donāt have a great memory. I donāt dwell on the past. But, I think it would be good for all of us to remember what happened to our humanity because surely it will be coming around again.
Wishing I could hug you all in person for giving me the privilege of landing in your Inbox whenever I feel like writing to you!
Much love,
Barbara

I never stopped hugging either, Barbara and two years later my family still isnāt speaking to me for having natural immunity. Thank you for your words, they always feel like a big hug to me š
I love it in fact xxx
