I cherish reading about your nature walks. Youβve inspired me to do so much more nature walking than Iβve done in years. Recently, I took my kids and dog on a hike and we found a baby garder snake which we ended up bringing home. My eldest just really wanted to care for it. I find that itβs best to leave the wildlings to the wild, but be insisted. Anyway, snakes have also been in my path this week. Thinking of you and the magic youβre recording, Barbara. π
Don't even THINK about "bottling it up"!!! LOL πππ
I looove that you looove Nature and all the critters and glitters the way I do. I love reading your posts, they always make me smile. It is BALM. xo xo xo
You write of the 4 elements and the lovely critters (except black flies and ticks) you encounter in your beautiful landscape in such a dreamy and ethereal way, your days surely must be sacred. I love reading about your nature enhanced walks. Thank you Barbara :)
Pond love, turtle love, black snake love... even tick and black fly love! You are truly the Sprite of NH, Barbara! It's marvelous to step into your world and remember the magic that is around us all the time, if we slow down to witness it. Thank you for taking us with you.
PS Yesterday I had a black snake encounter myself, and then this morning, wrote in my journal about the experience of meditating in the morning sun (which I do almost every morning). As I was writing, a small brown lizard called an anole joined me, basking in the sun 12 inches from me. I wish I were closer to the kind of nature that surrounds you, but I'll take what comes... :-)
Thank you, Barbara. For once again reorienting us into the daily miracle of the Natural world. Your joy somehow translates through this digital medium and is felt.
Garlic and vanilla - I'll try it!
What a potent piece, what a delight to glimpse this world with you. So much appreciation.
Somehow I knew you'd have a copy of Anam Cara! Thanks for reading, Kathleen, and for your sweet comment. I had a HUGE Mama Bear and her two cubs (maybe 1-2 yr olds) in my yard around dusk - I was just about to bring in the bird feeders. What a beautiful way to end my Nature day. π»π»π» Rain or sun, I hope you have a beautiful day today. XO
First off I Laughed SO hard!!!! The garlic and vanilla π€£ that is SO great. 2nd, I can FEEL your joy and smiles all the way here in MI. I love this. I love YOU and I am SO glad you had this experience and shared it with all of us πxoxoxo
Lol, Jamie, I keep thinking of you when I'm grumbling that it's not getting dark until almost 9:00! Only you would understand! Glad I made you laugh. I just had my garlic and will spritz on the vanilla on my way out. Did you see my story on Instagram about the three bears here last night? I wonder how they feel about garlic and vanilla??? π»π»π» XOXO
Oh, what magic and joy you brought to my heart, thank you so much! What I so miss is the solitude piece when I am out on my local common (though sometimes there is a little aloneness to be had in communion with nature so I am grateful when that happens....it's been the longest and most inward time). I'm so glad no-one bit you either, even though the remedy is so drastic (I wonder if there is a homeopathic remedy that would render one neutral and uninteresting to black flies and ticks?). Fortunately I am not prey here to either of those critters (touch wood). I loved the mirror image in your little video of those pines in the water, and in your photo of them above they remind me of feathers. And how beautiful that as joy erupted in your heart, the pond also erupted in sparkles - just magic in action! πΈπ¦πβ£οΈπͺ·πͺ²π³
Lucky you not to have ticks or black flies! I never met them until I moved to NH. Soon the deer flies will arrive and they are THE WORST. IDK if garlic and vanilla will deter them at all. I might need to hang a string of garlic around my. neck...
And if you're referring to the photo of the Pines that looked like they were dancing - I loved it too! I'm so happy when a reader really resonates with something I've written. Thx again for taking the time to let me know! π²π²π² π
I love those timeless walks where every step is in synch with the worldβ¦.hence magical. I am a firm believer in seeing things in their best light, no one knows muchβ¦.so make and enjoy the world in whatever way suits us best to connect to it. I believe messages come from the flora and fauna of my woods where I step back in time when I explore. Thank you for sharing.
Barbara, what a blessing to read this post of yours. An old song from the 70s, I think, popped into my head, "Muskrat Love", Captain and Tennille. You could change the title of your piece to "Turtle Pond
Lo-o-o-ove". Your videos and photos really enhance your message, and especially the photo of the pond bursting into sparkles. Now that was definitely a special gift meant for you. The whole thing was truly a sacred experience, for us too! I'm also a fan of John O'Donohue's "Anam Cara", "the day as a sacred place", what a beautiful thought. Thank you, Barbara.
Oh, Rocket, that bit of nostalgia made me :). Captain and Tennille. I had to do the internet search thing and listened to the song. Huh??? The lyrics make NO SENSE! Boy, the 60's and 70's had some odd music thrown iin there.
Thank you for reading and for your beautiful comment. I'm so glad you enjoyed the experience along with me. π’π
Beautiful pics thankyou for taking us along with you on your delightful wslk! I absolutely adore freshly grated garlic five cloves daily! Delicious! Not only does it keep insects at bay but detoxifies and cleanses the blood from damaging assaults against it. I have found chewing fresh parsley with mint dilutes the odour and gets rid of it. As does some freshly grated ginger, fresh lemon and orange juice too!
Thanks for reading and thx for the tips! Five cloves daily! WOW. My plan of action is leaving it on my breath during the walks and then parsley or ginger when I get home. Yes! So good for our health. All of those foods that you mention. Take care! π§π§π§π§π§

Aww, thank you, Tonika. I'm so happy that my Nature ramblings have inspired you! Snake medicine is potent. π XOXO

I looove that you looove Nature and all the critters and glitters the way I do. I love reading your posts, they always make me smile. It is BALM. xo xo xo
And, btw, what I meant by "bottle it up" was not to stop it but to be able to bottle it up and share it with all of you! XO
No worries! xo xo
Thx, Jaan! Glad you enjoyed it. π§π

Yes! Those little messengers are everywhere! That little lizard probably felt your good meditation vibes. π¦ Thx for reading, Mary! XOXO

And I love Anam Cara - I'll have to find my copy.
Big hugs. π’ππΏπ

Thank you for reading, Clair, and for taking the time to leave this comment. I'm so happy it found a place in your π©·! I don't ever take for granted the level of solitude I have at this time in my life. I find that a lot of introverts understand my love of being alone, even when they're young. It certainly has helped me not to feel lonely. I hope you can find if only a bit of it.

Admission: my Chinese sign is black water snake, so I'd love to hear more about your magical encounters...
I just looked it up and I'm a water snake sign, too! :) Some of it resonates and some, not at all. Which is usually the case... XO
π€ Wowww! I was born in the year of the Snake but donβt know much about it. One of these days I will fill you in! π π©·
We were born in the same year, after all π
I just found out that mosquitoes really don't like patchouli - maybe your bugs won't like it either?
Problem is - I don't like it either! π Then again, I don't really love eating garlic all the time...

Yes! Well said, Heide. Thx for reading and it sounds like you have your own magical wanders happening where you live! Happy for you...π²π²π² XO

That was a lovely walk with you. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to tales of Black Snake.
Thank you for taking the walk with me, Esack! I will put Black Snake on my list. :) π
