Hi Barbara: I grew up in and lived most of my in Tucson. Snowing in February isn't unusual, just very rare. It usually snows about once every 6 years or so. I've seen it snow on my birthday eve in April. Glad you had such a good time in the Sonoran desert. If it was a month later and I hadn't read the ending, I would have suggested Acacia for that intense scent
Thx for sharing! I remember the staff at the place saying 30 years :) and so that's what I remembered. Embellishment or not, it was spectacular! I don't think I've ever smelled Acacia. Desert flowers are so lovely. Thx for reading! 🌵🌸
Oh, this is great. It's so lovely to see folks brave enough to share their humanity, even if it's a bit hilarious... The scent was YOU-- that's something I can imagine myself doing, LOL. Which of course makes me love you even more!
Yay.
And you know what? It looks like at least one of my Rhodies has changed the color of its blooms!! They used to all be pink, and now it looks like they might be... yellow? Maybe it's just too early and I'm seeing the outside leaves... I'll keep you informed. ;)
This story has a profundity to it. It is as if you did not know your own value, as if your habitual humility was preventing you from recognising your contribution to the beauty of the desert.
When you did not pick up on the comment "but you sure do!" I recognised a difficulty with accepting compliments - I suffer from that one myself. Compliments make me squirm or even disbelieve..... we are funny creatures, aren't we?
Oh boy, Frances. Another "intuitive smarty pants!" Yes, there's a lot of truth in what you write. I'm getting better at it in my Crone years. 👑 This story still makes me laugh at myself and especially having the nerve to actually publish it. :) We surely are funny creatures. 🌵💗
I love this story! It actually occurred to me half way through that you may have been smelling the scent of an energy or 'spirit' who found you in that sacred place. Obviously that spirit was you. : )

Kudos for your bravery. So appreciate your way-showing for the rest of us who also often struggle to see, hear, feel or even smell our own beauty. 🙏🏽
Aww, thx Sasha! It only took me until almost 70 to stop holding back so much. xoxo
