I love this post so much! One of my favorites of yours. I can imagine a children’s book where the potted yarrow and you make your way from the city to your country home…almost as she was guiding you there all along. Thank you for always sharing your wisdom! 💖🪴
I love yarrow also and glad it grows on my land. According to Matthew Wood's First Aid Herbs PDF:
If I could only have one herb in my practice it would be yarrow– and many herbalists would agree. It acts deeply on the blood, circulation, fever, and diverse tissue conditions. It is probably the single most important wound-healing plant. Everyone should know about it because it can literally save life and limb.
He has some interesting stories in the pdf about people using yarrow to heal deep cuts and gashes, like they did in ancient times during battles. So one way to remember it's scientific name, Achillea millefolium, is the arrow that struck his heel, but he didn't use yarrow! Millefolium of course means thousand leaves, although it's really from single leaves. Cinquefoil means 5 leaves.
Yarrow is my favorite plant. I'm sipping Yarrow tea right now. I had a really bad fall last year - fell flat out onto a granite patio with a glass jug in my hand. Blood gushing, I heard The Voice say "Yarrow!" and there she was, growing literally in front of my face. I felt myself going into shock but I grabbed some Yarrow, flushed out the wounds on my hand - one cut was to the bone - and I made a poultice with her. For weeks it looked like I had green stitches and now there's no scar. I wonder why everyone isn't talking about Yarrow, what with all the talk about blood clots from the jab. She's good for anything blood related. I love Matthew Wood's chapter on her in his book "The Book of Herbal Wisdom." She is the Queen! :) Thx for your comment!

ooh, sorry to hear that. Well, if you didn't know already, there was a coordinated campaign against things you can't profit from: https://photos.app.goo.gl/dkJTy556Z9M2nxp8A . If you look through ads or articles, etc. from the 1800s, there is so much info about things like turpentine, which no one knows about. You just have to open up, and nature/neters will help out, like it did with you. Otherwise, it will be closed off, like it is for the straight-edged people.
It was another opportunity for me to challenge myself to stay away from a doctor/hospital. A great learning experience. And yes, about all the hidden information. I've noticed lately that ALL of the search engines (not just Google) always pop up western medicine articles, even when searching for example, the healing properties of a plant.
Never heard of yarrow guess why it was last last I read on the blog, and it was the Best story I’ve read in a long time. I love how you write, I get lost in the words, I’m there all the way, what a beautiful book of yarrow, I have new wisdom and respect for the Yarrow. I have to get 1 thank you for that beautiful feel good Yarrow story🙏💖 your my favorite author Barbara😍🦋🦄🌈
Barbara, I'm so happy that you were able to make a move to the country. You are so connected to plants and Mother Earth. I love yarrow too. I have a patch just outside of my chicken coop, so I see it every day. Your story about someone digging up your plant and tossing it aside resonated with me. That has happened numerous times with my husband and I saw myself digging through the weed pile to find my beloved plants.
Ellen! So happy to see your name in my Inbox this morning! I knew there would be plant lovers out there who would resonate. :) Hope you are well. Lots of Love, Barbara
I just needed to log in 🤭.... I don't want to take up a space of another winning some of your beauties... you have been so generous to me already. These reads are treats for me also. Xoxo
Wow! I've never heard of gold Yarrow! It's all white here where I live. I've seen some cultivated varieties but never a wild Yarrow that wasn't white (I know there are pink varieties.) It's amazing how drought resistant this plant is, isn't it? Do they spray in your park? Hopefully not, but if they do, at least you've rescued some! I'm sure they'll be happy with you. :) 💚

Aww, thank you, dear one! Maybe a bit like "The Little House." 🌿 💚 XOXO
My very thoughts.
Queen yarrow truly loves you and I am so proud of her dedication to you. 😊
She truly knows how much I love her! She's blooming all over the hill here now. I'm just letting her do her thing. 💚

I love Yarrow too cuz. My butterfly garden has yellow, white, and a deep ruby red. PS ~ I like the voice over.
She's just the best. The wild white Yarrow is the most medicinal. And thx for the vote of confidence. :) It makes me laugh (at myself). xoxo B
