And that swan fits you to a T. I, for one, am very glad you found your way to becoming a writer, because I like to read your writing. ^_^
And I do understand that stubborn thing we gals do when we find hidden truths in words that have been dismembered or undone, like "crone."
I had a teacher called Mrs. Krohn, and she told me her name meant "crown." So there's some more validation, and SHE was also very wise and elegant, and SHE also loved trees. Yay!
Of course, I love trees, too! I have to, I'm a dog.
Oh my! Thank you for sharing Mrs. Krohn with me, Jaan! I don't know her but I like her already. And, thx for the kind words of encouragement. Hope the new job is going well! 👑💕
The new job is all about training right now... I'm learning how to pass a test, and it's all about getting the right terminology and knowing about things I have little knowledge of-- until now. So it's kinda fun, and kinda stressful, because I can only be part/time right now, until I get through that test! So hopefully I can get my test over with by sometime in March, and then things will be MUCH mo betta.
My personal trainer recommend to me the Wednesday series and I watched it recently- I loved it.
Yes, I've heard actors and other artistic professionals saying that the best performances and creativity come when you get out of your own way. I can see this might be true of writing too.
I love your crown.
I've never really written before. Sometimes I write what's burning inside when I feel someone else has made an error.
Mostly I write, especially now that we can add pictures, because it's super fun.
Good reason, Jo! It should be fun or at least enjoyable. And you share great information. Wanting a better world.
I was going to reach out to you today to tell you that Mr. Gnome got buried again last night, but I dug him out right away, thanks to you. So far he's remained nameless but I've decided to name him Joe (Jo with an e) in your honor because you cared so much about him. :) xo
This post: is a gem as well! I love the article about writers bleeding, the John Pavlovitch? I will be reading that one for a long time--thank you for sharing.
And the Swan card? I am doing a 6 week intro. course on Tarot on-line--how much synchronicity can we handle here anyway? So far enjoying the class-completely ignorant of course, but learning a lot--plan to use it as a journaling technique. So how fortuitous for you to just 'pick' the swan card. I love Sarasvati, the Goddess of music and wisdom and the arts in India, comparable to Pallas Athena in Greek mythology, who adds war to her list and the ever-watchful avatar, the owl. So glad to make your acquaintance, Barbara! Here is to REWILDING, my word for 2023--and 2022, not wild enough--it make take awhile..d to get this right, hahaha. jeanne
I love synchronicity so much! I even did a painting about it once. Life is so much sweeter when it shows up, don't you think?
Enjoy your tarot class. If you ever want a great oracle deck, check out The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit. It will not disappoint. Kim also has a tarot deck.
So happy you're here, Jeanne! Thanks for reading and leaving a comment! xo
Thanks for the tip on the wild unknown....yes, because I know nothing I had to get the classic rider-smith deck upon the advice of the teacher, but she uses so many different decks when she teaches and her obvious favorites are animal tarot decks. I like the more artistic ones, but the animal decks affect me as well---i will check the one you recommend. Who is Kim, BTW and what deck does she have?
the gal I am studying with lives in London and eventually wants us to have the Rider-Smith (done) and then a clone of that and something completely different. So far it is a lovely learning tool for journaling but I would like to begin a new series of art with proper use of symbols--flying by the seat of one's pants t'aint good enough anymore. Off to do a class with her (on-line) and I will check out your advice on the next deck (which I suspected was going to be about animals).
Kim is Kim Krans, creator of The Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck and others (including tarot.) https://www.thewildunknown.com/
She is such an amazing artist, and I've owned a lot of tarot and oracle (mostly oracle) cards, but hers are my favorite. The illustrations alone are so beautiful.
Have fun with it; I love flying by the seat of my pants. :) xoxo
thanks for the info-you are a seasoned tarot/oracle card, just like the woman i am taking the class from. She can rattle off the most interesting bits about the tarot artists, the tarot, the history....that is not me, as of yet, but it's a work in progress. ; > ] and it is fun as well to keep the ancient brain from atrophying by learning new 'stuff'.
I am not at all seasoned in the tarot! And honestly, if I have an animal dream or one shows up in Nature, meditation, or a journey, I never run first to a book or website on animal spirits/guides. I really try to tune into my intuition first. But I do love picking one of Kim's cards. A few years ago, I did a pull for the whole year, then picked a card daily and wrote it in my journal. It was so interesting how I would get the same cards over and over again. Buffalo, Turtle, Swan, Unicorn, Whale, Dolphin, Eagle.
The first card I ever pulled was at a winter intuition event where someone brought the deck. I remember I got Peacock, and I thought, "What?? Peacock? But it had the most beautiful message, I cried! :)
Enjoy the tarot and whatever else finds its way to you, Jeanne. xo
unless it so happens you see a peacock on a tarot card first, thinking, a peacock.. and days, or hours even later it happens that a rash of peacocks infiltrate your yard or your shopping area, where e're you do the rounds, even in rhat backyard sanctuary, loaded wih snow and bear sculpture----it would very surprising if one turned up where you would least expect it. Or....maybe not......
i think that if we belive in something, we certainly have to register the fact that 'IT' does move in myserious ways, but beautiful ways as well-----yes, thanks for your wishes and the same to you.
When I first discovered substack (less than a year ago--where was I that I did not know about substack) when i signed up for the Wendy Mac GUT program--Grown-Ups-Together drawing, Your substack and about two others quickly became the ones i looked forwad to receiving in the mail. great tips, great writing--what about the story of the peacock? or is that a private journey?
Have you heard of a guy by the name if Martin Shaw? I have been so bowled over the stories on youtube.. He is a Master Mythologist and a great story teller -I think he always had the magic, but he atttributes his skill to working with Robt. Bly.
I meant to write after the turtle post saying, oh no, not you too?! I am the vata Sag keeping guard on the NW corner of this wondrous country who has been collecting turtles for awhile, although my mom started that, but then she probably remembers all those tiny turtles I used to buy from Woolworths one at a time (just adored them) but even though they were put in the warmest part of the house, in the sun near a kitchen window, usually succumbed to the North Dakota winters and died of frostbite (I am assuming). Poor little things!
I finally gave up raising turtles and concentrated my efforts at burying baby chicks who were so vicious they would peck the weaker ones until they died. My graveyard on the farm was full of chickens with a few turtles. Life is not good for the weak of heart--this I learned early. Enjoyed that post and look forward to more adventures. Sayonara, anam cara!
I am SO patiently waiting for the PINK stories 🥰💕... love this!!!!!! Xo I almost bought some beautiful pink heels in honor of my Mom... they weren't comfortable. I am old enough to know not to waste money on something beautiful that can't be worn. So... I didn't but... the thought came from YOU. The search continues 🤭 ( that's part of the fun)
I have a very lightweight lacey witches hat which I lined with aluminium foil for when the EMFs get too intense. It relieves the pressure in my ears and brain instantly and is so light that I forget it is on my head which is handy cos I generally hate hats. I write fast when I am wearing it, I have noticed that much.....
Only problem so far - I sometimes pop out into the front garden to potter about or just sit in the rare sunshine. Undoubtedly the neighbours have confirmed their suspicions that I am a bit weird. I am always barefooted because my feet have swollen a lot and only one pair of boots still fit me. You know what I have discovered? My neighbours are incredibly polite. Not one of them said a word about the witches hat.
I remember when reading The War of Art by Pressfield, he refers to the many sentimental artifacts he has around his workspace. His lucky hooded sweatshirt, his lucky boots, etc. I wear a lucky cardigan, and a lucky wool hat. It's cold in the basement with an open window in Ontario winter!
Morning, J.R.! Well, you must be one powerful snow manifester! It snowed all night. It's only 16 degrees, so it's not wet and heavy; thank goodness for that, says my back. :) Sorry you got the heavy wet stuff. :( It's stopped for a few hours but is supposed to start up this afternoon and continue into the night. Tomorrow comes the wind and -2 at night. I have my weekly Dane Wigington email sitting there, waiting for me to listen. IDK if I want to. Banishing thoughts that there might be dioxin in the beautiful fluffy snow. :( It's so beautiful, and I don't need to go anywhere, so I'm happy. Going to strap on my snowshoes and go walk in the woods. It's a perfect writing day, too, and so far, my Internet is working. Have a good day! ❄️❄️❄️
Don't be sorry! I love it! I'm one of the few weirdos who actually like snowstorms. One reason I moved here. Thx, J.R. I hope you have a good one, too!
I’ve seen you in the comments section but must have missed that you also had a stack. I stumbled here through Notes and crone, am I glad I did!
Aww! Glad you found me! :) I think Notes will be good for that. Have a beautiful day, Visceral Adventure (sorry, don't know your name!)
My name is Tonika. Like a gin and tonic with an a.
Ok, thx, Tonika! Love the gin and tonic clue! :)
Great post!

Thank you Barbara, that's very encouraging to hear.
Ah I love to think of Joe out of the snow, though I hope Gnomes don't actually hibernate and he was rudely awakened?
IDK, he looks pissed at me no matter what I do!
yeah I get what you mean, impossible to please,

How did I miss your comment(s)? So sorry!
Woolworths!! Or SS Kresge, as we had in Detroit. Yes, those poor lil turtles. Their shells would get soft, and soon, it would be goodbye. :(
Oh my goodness - the poor chicks. Growing up on a farm must have been amazing.
Thx for writing! xo 🐢🐢

It's coming soon, I promise! :) I have a perfect shade of pink Converse that I bought several years ago when the Pink story began.. Maybe that would be a better fit?? Not the same, but close. There are other shades, too. https://www.converse.com/shop/p/chuck-taylor-all-star-seasonal-color-unisex-low-top-shoe/A02800F.html?dwvar_A02800F_color=canyon%20dusk&styleNo=A02800F&cgid=womens-classic-chuck-shoes

HAHAHA! Love it, Frances! 🧙♀️I used to have my crown on the dashboard of my car. Weird is just a negative word for original, don't you think? xoxo

Love it, Roman! I'm just below you in New Hampshire (if I have my geography right, which is always questionable.) :) Thanks for reading!
CJ, I'm sorry I missed your comment! Totally get that about the overshare. 🤭 Yes, the time will return when it's time if that makes any sense. :)
Thank you for taking the time to visit my stories! Means a lot. 💕
