Barbara,

Thanks for liking my comment on "Why writers are so afraid of AI". In return, I've read your post "Magic have your way with me." So, knowing you a little now, I'd say something like "Enchantment have your way with me." I, too, find enchantment in some of the things of nature I can pick up and take home because they speak heart to heart to me in kind of the way I imagine that they do for you.

Aww, I love that, JBS! Thx for reading and taking the time to comment. I've been ruminating about a comment on Matt's AI post. So much to say about it. Glad you weighed in. :)

Great offering.

It's the magic that keeps me going, shows me the way, and illuminates the path.

Thank you for sharing.

Just what I needed, Barbara!

I listened this time, instead of reading. I loved it!

You are magic, my friend. And I too seeing everywhere. Live in love and magic...just beautiful 😍

I love this essay, Barbara. So much delight in it! I am a big believer in magic, and feel very strongly that magic delivered you, like a perfect fluffy feather, into my life. 🪶

Awww, that made me smile and tear up all at once! Thank you, Mary, and I feel the same. I feel like there's a little sub-section here on Substack for "people like us." :) 🧚🧚xo

P.S. I wonder what your neck pain is trying to say to you? What is ready now to be healed?

Oh, boy. There's a whole other post brewing about this. You are spot on, Mary. And, coincidentally, I have a 3 hour past life regression session scheduled this afternoon. 😳 There are no coincidences! Stay tuned. xo

What a perfect topic for your next post...excited to hear all about your journey into another time!

Oh, my, Sasha. It was pretty mind-blowing. Weaving bits and pieces of this lifetime with the past, other timelines, whatever they may be. Keeping this close to my heart for a while. Still processing!! xoxo

Fabulous. I’m actually trained to offer PLR (or what I’ve called Other Life Insights as I don’t believe time is Actually linear though we experience it that way in 3D). So I get where you’re at. I like to work with intention and the results are powerful to be sure. Excited to hear when you’re ready to write about it. 🦋

Yes about time not being linear. I like that - Other Life Insights. xo

Thanks for sharing, Barbara. Wonderful post! This maybe a bit random but have you tried electro gardening? Wrap some copper wire round a bit of local wood ( I use hazel) , pop it in the middle of your garden( perhaps next to queen yarrow) and it will attract beneficial insects while it deters unwanted pests. Well that is the theory! Sorry to hear you have been dealing with injuries. Hope you're on the road to recovery now. Oh I found a large patch of wild yarrow in my pollinator patch and thought of you! Thanks to people like you I am blessed to see the magic in nature every day!! x

So glad you liked it, Kirsty! And yes!! I have made some electroculture towers and have one in each garden, one next to an old tired Apple tree, and one next to the Quaking Poplar I nurtured and planted in the fall. The bugs just scoff at them. I took a video of a beautiful Bear who was in the yard eating leftover seeds from the Turkeys and I could see the deer flies swarming around his head. Which is what they do to me. I cannot even work in my gardens unless I completely cover up from head to toe, gloves and all. And it's just too hot and humid to do that now. I have tried everything and frankly, have accepted defeat and spend most of my time indoors. At least I have 25 windows and 3 doors in this little house!

Much love to you, Kirsty, and thanks for reading/listening! 💚

Or you could spend bug season in Celtic lands!! Just saying 😉. We have not had many midges this summer but to be fair I can't remember the last time I saw the sun. Now I understand why you love winter so much. Sending love and healing vibes back x

And P.S. ditto with the sun. We saw it maybe 3 days in June, tops. :(

I'm being unreasonable regarding the sun. We had a lovely start to summer. Hot, sunny and dry. My veggies got off to a great start. As for the midge.......I know we must have one of the less painful cousins to contend with in Scotland. So for that I am grateful. x

I learned something interesting (and disturbing) lately, after getting ravaged by what we call no-see-ums here. Evidently, they're in the same family as midges and they have over 5,000 relatives. :( I have surrendered and think I'll focus on my writing. I have barely been able to harvest any plants because it's too hot and humid to don the head to toe bug netting, which by the way won't keep out the no-see-ums... Ughhhh xoxo

the no-see-ums, yessiree, they are everywhere--in the great midwest where my baby sisters were constantly coming in with their eyelids swollen from the voracious no-see-ums delight in the taste of 2 and 3-year olds and they love it dry, because we NOW have them here in the northwest where it is usually rainy, but since 'climate warming', is no longer what I used to describe as living in the garden of eden. However, the slugs are fewer and i have seen the birds go mad in their constant scratching the earth/leaves for those wonderful caviar they so enjoy, (slugs lay eggs).

UGH to the bugs! I know we need them (we're not the only animals on this planet!) but I can't wait until the biting ones are gone.

I also think this is a fantastic post, Barbara--so much so that i will need to ponder the magic and return later to add some pithy bits to your even more pithy letter. Wow!

Sorry to hear about the neck! Did I miss a post wherein you explain that one? I too, am dealing with an injury, don't even want to dwell on it, but suffice to say, i am in complete empathy with your pain--sleeping much or erratically? Same-o. I tried to respond to a previous post of yours, but the fatigue, the pain made me accidentally delete it twice! I listened and said , "stop what you 're doing;/not meant to connect,at least not that evening."

I think it was the turkey feather post...I had written to say, " the only feathers I ever seem to find are some blackish, rain-soaked ones whch of course I pick up and dry off once i get back to the house" ( no doubt from a crow who has picked a fight with another bird while raiding my cherry trees).

More later---nice to hear from you----magic!

Oh no! I hope you're on the mend and back to your fabulous self soon, Jeanne. My head was in the same state as yours and I just had to let it go. I didn't mention it because I don't like dwelling on it (like you said) and also I couldn't clear my head to write anyway.

I LOVE Crows so much! I had five that came to Turkey Rock, as my friend likes to call the rock I throw seed on. But, when I opened the door to put seed out for them they flew away. My friend wrote a beautiful song about them. I wonder if I could figure out how to share it. I'll him! Feel better soon! xoxo

Haha! You brave lass, Barbara!

I would never tempt magic with that mantra.... it has a wicked sense of humour!

I think you would like the book about Anastasia. It describes a woman living deep in the Siberian tundra and how she survives. I am finding it most enlightening so far.

Here is the full pdf: https://ia-petabox.archive.org/details/AnastasiaTheRingingCedarsOfRussia110

Hee hee :) I'm not afraid of that kind of magic, but maybe I should make that clear while saying the mantra. :)

I know about the Anastasia series and have tried to find a copy but it's pretty expensive and hard to find. I mind have to resume my search. I can't read pdfs on the computer. I need either the physical book or an audiobook. I wonder if there's an audiobook...gonna check! Thx for the reminder, Frances! xo

I was never afraid of magic until one day when I asked for a bike.

Within the following week I received, via various avenues no less than six bikes. Even funnier, they were all different styles!

I cracked up and decided to be a little more careful and specific in the future!

Thank you fornall the reminders in this post for not taking all the magic in my life for granted! I was stopped dead in my tracks with a thrid round of Covid- but it made me STOP and lie still, so that i could receive some messages from loved ones in the Otherworld, as well as many teachings from some wonderful plant allies that I reestablished a relationship with. Now I just need to learn to pause without having to het sick!

I used to say almost daily " I believe in love and magic" !!!!!! And I DO!!!!! This post is fantastic. I'm so sorry you're still experiencing pain literally in the neck and those dirty buggers are still around. I laughed so loud when you said " is it winter yet". I cried while listening. When talking about the turkeys leaving you feathers. I believe they are ... and to hear my name mentioned 🤗🤗🤗 oooooooohhhhh .. I just love getting into bed and reading/listening to your shares! Thank you my dear friend 💕 I hope you are feeling better so soon!! Xoxo

Oh, J.R., I'm so sorry. It's really hard feeling unwell, especially when you're used to being active. My back was acting up big time the year I moved here and it pained me on and off. A new mattress (finally!) greatly improved it. Not comparing it to your situation which is completely different. Are you getting chiropractic treatments? I don't go to chiropractors but I know many people who have great success with them. Sending you lots of healing energy and envisioning you standing by beautiful Lake Michigan! 💦💦💦
