I love you on that sled! And the way you condense your Ayurvedic wisdom so well. I have been just laying out on the earth, grounding, the last few days. Maybe that’s a kapha season thing?
Ayurveda does go into your unique constitution but it’s not bio individual enough. We are more than vata, pitta, Kapha dosha.
And taking a simple quiz is kinda nonsense to me.
I think the doshas still can be beneficial but labels are not. That’s my opinion and thoughts from living an Ayurvedic lifestyle and being a practitioner.
I love Ayurveda but it really has disenchanted me since my study with Dr Vasant Lad in India and since David Newman’s death. And how they reacted about Covid vaccine reactions, and transgenderism. They support vaccines and cutting off your body parts. Dr Lad now lives in my town. It’s like a cult. I write a whole post on this.
I have been an Ayurvedic practitioner since 2014. It led me astray in so many ways with diet. I am a nutritional therapist now. But I blend Ayurveda with it still. I once had a thriving practice based in Ayurveda but I had to shut down for my own health.
I have deeply studied Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, body work for 20 years. But I will be giving up my Ayurveda Practitioner title soon. There is too much darkness and something else very evil about Nama and that world.
But great post anyway. I still love parts of Ayurveda but its mostly what my first teacher taught me. The simplicity of it.
I used to speak, breathe, preach Ayurveda. I still respect it but I have lost all respect for many in the Ayurveda community. It’s a very culty and dark world.
I agree with so much of what you say, Jae. Ayurveda is certainly not the end-all-be-all. I thought I intimated that in the post. I try to write about it and keep it simple, sharing some of the concepts because it really helped me heal. We are certainly more than just a dosha (or two or three), but I like to use the "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater analogy. When I learned about the doshas, it blew my mind; it was so accurate for me. But then there's our astrology, etc. We're a wonderful combo of so many things.
I'm sure your studies are much more in-depth than mine. I began mine with Maya Tiwari. The simple concepts—daily routine, abhyanga, and eating seasonally—helped me the most.
Regarding Vasant Lad (I only did a weekend workshop with him) pushing the vaccine, I'm not surprised. I lost track of all of the "healers" and teachers out there who pushed that agenda and many more. Herbalists, Ayurvedic doctors, Naturopaths, you name it. It was disheartening but a reminder not to be a follower and to think for myself.
Thanks for sharing, Jae, and I'll check out your posts.
Hi Barbara, this was all very interesting. I wanted to take the quiz but the link didn't work.
I can't tell where I fall in that Ayurvedic scheme of things. All I can remember is when I lived back East, I couldn't stand the damp cold in the winter that went right to my bones, even in January when we lived in CA, it was like that. After moving to the Southwest, I seemed to be happy. I love the dry climate. Anyway, I'm very impressed with all your knowledge of these things.
You look great there in the snow by that big giant boulder. xox
How I love looking at your beautiful smiling face! Looking great, Barbara! You’re glowing! 😀
Thanks for the tips on this transition. Funny, I recognise Kapha traits in me from years past, but not this year. I’ve never had a more invigorating and energised winter. My creativity has been unleashed and I don’t really mind how long winter is lasting at all!
I just retook the test and I’m showing up Vata. Which I think is what I had tested as before? 🤔 I don’t remember. But that link you had didn’t work for me, I just googled something random so not sure about its accuracy either. Anyway, hi, fellow Vata! 👋
Yes, it all gets confusing...our constitution (what we were born with) vs. our present state of health. I checked the links but missed that one! Here it is: https://www.banyanbotanicals.com/pages/dosha-quiz
That makes me so happy to hear you've been feeling so energized!! 🎉🎉🎉 Isn't that creative unleashing just THE BEST? Please send it my way! XOXOXO
Well this one has me at 1/2 Pitta, 3/8 Kapha, and 1/8 Vata. 😂 But I do feel like the narrative captures most of my qualities. Although, when I read Vata, I can resonate with that too. Can someone be in flux? I bet the answers a year ago are pretty different than my answers today.
So there is your original constitution (what you were born with and which never changes) and then your present state of health. Using myself as an example, when I answer the questions about how I was as a child, it always comes out that I am mostly Vata with a little Pitta—hardly any Kapha. I was very petite - short and skinny and never gained weight. I learned quickly but forgot quickly. Scattered, very creative, cold, disorganized, anxious, and fearful. Typical Vata traits. So that is my Prakruti (original constitution.)
But when I was in my late 50's after the death of my partner, I put on a significant amount of weight for the first time in my life. It was very much a Kapha imbalance. I've also had Pitta imbalances, but they have never lasted long. We have all of the doshas in us, which are in flux. Our present state of health is called our Vikruti. This is just a short synopsis, but I hope it helps! XOXO
Thanks for expanding, Barbara. It does help. I’m going to read more on it. I got interested two years ago when you first brought the doshas into my purview and I sidelined. I’d like to keep my health in balance. And I think this is the first time in my life when I’m prepared and willing.
I love love love when I get to see your face 🥰😍🥰😍.... I may be reaching out for some of that elderberry 🤤😁... do you make any bitters? I used to use urban moonshine ( I think that is the name) 🤔. I too am getting sad about winter winding down. I seriously am!!! Love reading your shares 🥰🌲🌲🌲❄️❄️❄️💗 Thank you and sweet dreams 🥰 xo!!!!
As I read the list I mentally checked off almost every item -- I forget sometimes how very Kapha my husband is! Thanks for the wonderful reminders of how to support one. Now if I can figure out how to do it without sounding like a Vata/Pitta harpy... 😂
I love you on that sled! And the way you condense your Ayurvedic wisdom so well. I have been just laying out on the earth, grounding, the last few days. Maybe that’s a kapha season thing?
It's snowing again today (well, doing that Kapha snow/rain thing), so maybe I'll have another go at it on the sled. :)
I always try to keep it simple and digestible. Thanks for always being so open to my Ayurveda blathering, Amanda!! XOXO
Lovin' it! And great photo of yourself there at the end, made me smile, too.
Enjoy the last bits of winter and don't worry... things will be Plenty Exciting here pretty soon...
xo xo
Thanks, Jaan! Exciting sounds good! 🥰
In the end, Good. Buckle up, my lovely. Be a Girl Scout, and Be Prepared.
Great insights, Barbara, thank you for the reminders.
And mostly for that pic at the end with your beautiful face. You can't not glow, woman! xox
Thank you, sweet friend. :) Thx for reading. XOXO

I have so much to write about, but they kept trying to shut me up.
Interesting comment. Thank you. If I understand correctly, Dr Vasant Lad was advocating for vaccines?!
If so, WTF. Please say more. Thanks so much.

I will post my link to my writing blog. I was never on tech before so I accidentally separated my stuff.
Not so good at computers.
Let’s say Tavistock Institute, Esalen Institute, Ayurvedic Institute have much In common. And it’s dark.

Thanks Barbara, this link worked. I tested as "Pitta-Vata" Type, with Pitta Imbalance.
I'll read over the results again soon. Interesting.
Oh, thanks, Ronnie, I'll fix the link! Damp is the worst! Ayurveda is very complex, and I ignore a lot of it :) but there are definitely some gems.
That's Mr. Wise, my confidant and advisor... XOXO

Hahaha! I had a very Kapha partner once. He was a chef and like your husband, could check all of those boxes! Thx for reading, Mary! XOXO
