Dear readers,
A restless night not long ago found me sitting on the floor of my bedroom, pulling notebook after notebook, journal after journal, sketchbook after sketchbook off my bookshelf. This is where my inspiration-related books reside: art, writing, Nature, the Druids, healing, etc.
Most of them were incomplete. Some things never change. :)
I came upon a Pink binder with poems and prose from 2016 when I signed up for a writing challenge. There was no instruction (thank God!), just some really good questions to inspire and get the fingers moving.
I found this one amongst the pages and thought it would be a good share for February, the proverbial month of Love. :) I made one tiny edit.
“What do you know to be true of Love?”
You can run from it
but you cannot hide
You can seek solitude and
protection from
feeling too much
You can erect walls
close the door
say, “No more.”
but then, dammit
you act with kindness
towards a stranger
or weep when you see
a tree you love
cut down
or a gentle rainfall
moves you so
that you feel something
deep down
At first it flutters
a soft warmth spreads
an opening
The love of a partner
a child
a pet
a stranger
a tree
the Divine
of Self
or an Anam Cara
who always says
”I love you, friend.”
It’s all the same
feeling in your
heart center
this I know is true
it opens like a flower
Pink
The color of the
high heart
Pink Is Everything!
I heard that day
Pink is a sign of
Hope
and where there is
Hope
there is
Love
This I know is true.
Much Love,
Barbara 💗
Fresh batches of Elderberry Syrup are still being made to order, and my new batch of Forest Oil is bottled and ready for sale. It’s called Forest Oil because it smells like the forest! 🌲🌲🌲
Thank you for your heartfelt comments, your subscriptions (free or paid), or just for stopping by and reading or listening to The Quaking Poplar 🌳!
If subscriptions aren’t your thing, but you’d like to support TQP, here’s a link. Many thanks!
I think you and Mary are sharing dreams, Barbara. That's the only way I can explain the synchronicity.
What is it about journals and poems? And what are the chances both you and Mary post pics of your journals with heart-centric poems? I don't know but I know I'm grateful for you both and that you share the essential stuff with your readers. 💖
The very best of what it is to be human - love (of course!) can't not want to express. Reorienting back there, to the heart, must be then the most important, the most real, the most human thing we can do.
More please. 🌸
Thank you for sharing that lovely - Pink is Everything - poem. Loved every word. XOX
